The 10-Minute Structure That Works Every Time
Think of your presentation as a mini-story with a beginning, middle and end. A simple structure keeps you on time and leaves a stronger impression.
Recommended Structure
1. Opening (1 minute): Grab attention with a bold statement or question.- Example: “Did you know the garage door is the heaviest moving part in most homes—and the #1 source of home injuries?
- The Problem: What challenges do your clients face?
- The Solution: How do you solve them? Show your process.
- The Ideal Client: Paint the picture—who is a great fit and who is not.
- Stories & Visuals: Use case studies, photos or testimonials to illustrate impact.
3. Closing (1 minute):
- Make a clear referral request.
- Give 4–5 examples of what to listen for.
- End with your strongest call to action.
Garage Door Example
- The noisy door: “That grinding sound isn’t a ghost—it’s a worn-out roller.”
- The stubborn door: “If it sticks halfway, the tracks are out of alignment.”
- The open-sesame door: “A garage door that opens on its own is a security risk.”
- The referral cue: “Our garage door is so loud it wakes the baby.”
Marketing Consultant Example
- The invisible website: “If your client’s site looks good but doesn’t show up on Google, they don’t have a website—they have an online brochure.”
- The social ghost town: “Posting daily but no engagement? That’s not marketing, that’s shouting into the void.”
- The referral cue: “Our website looks fine, but nobody finds us online.”
The Authority Edge Perspective
A good presentation isn’t about covering everything you do. It’s about making one or two problems and solutions unforgettable. That’s what makes your peers remember you and that’s what equips them to send you the right referrals.
💬 Final Word: Simplicity sticks. If your structure is clear, your referrals will be too.
