People Don’t Follow Resumes—they Follow Enthusiasm

Your skills matter. Your experience counts. But the truth is, people don’t follow resumes—they follow energy. Energy is contagious. It’s magnetic. It’s what turns a competent professional into a recognized authority.

When you show up with enthusiasm for your work, you create momentum that can’t be manufactured through credentials alone. People are drawn to leaders who radiate excitement, who approach challenges with curiosity and who inspire others simply by being fully engaged. Energy amplifies influence because it communicates something deeper than expertise—it communicates commitment, authenticity and possibility.

This doesn’t mean you have to be “on” all the time or perform theatrically. Real energy comes from alignment with your purpose. It comes from showing up authentically, ready to contribute, ready to serve and genuinely excited about the impact you can make. That excitement resonates with your audience, colleagues and clients. It signals that what you do matters—and that they can trust you to lead, guide and deliver.

Think about the people you naturally follow. Why do you gravitate toward certain leaders? Often, it’s not just their achievements—it’s their energy, their enthusiasm, their willingness to show up fully. When your energy matches your message, your audience feels it, believes it and wants to engage with it.

Action Step: This week, identify one specific moment where you can intentionally lean into your passion and focus your energy. It could be:

• A project you’re excited about
• A recent insight or breakthrough
• A lesson you’ve learned that could help others

Share that enthusiasm with your audience in a way that feels authentic to you. Use a video, a social media post, or even a live conversation. The goal isn’t to impress with credentials—it’s to let your energy shine.

Remember: authority isn’t a title; it’s a presence. When your energy shines through, it draws people to you naturally, amplifies your influence and builds credibility without needing perfection or endless validation.

Your enthusiasm is contagious. When you step into it intentionally, others will notice—and your authority naturally amplifies.
